Emerald Prices: I get quotes for emerald rough from all over the place - for instance out of Pakistan in 1/09 I got a quote of $150 per carat for good quality emerald rough - but I and one of my rough gem dealers considered it high and would not buy at that price. Shop around as there are some good deals to be had out there. If you hear of some price quotes on rough from different countries email them to me and where they are from and I will feature them on this site. The good news is that emerald rough has gone up in value as back in 2002 I bought for $45 to $65 per carat... so this means the value of emerald rough has increased substantially in value. I get calls from people wanting to know the value of cut emeralds - only an appraiser can tell you that - go get it appraised. It all depends on the quality of the cut, clarity and inclusions. As far as rough is concerned the more it looks like a shiny tasty peice of candy the better. If it reflects light well even before it is cut - the better it will look when it is cut. Large emeralds whether they be rough or cut are going to be harder to sell. You will notice my small emeralds sold first so all I have left are large emeralds. Typically the extremely large cut emeralds over 4-5 carats will have to wait for a collector to find them. I feature some for people on my consignment emeralds page. The more people that see your emerald the better so why not let me consign it for you on my site for 5%. You just email me the best pictures you have of it and any information about it. I will put a contact form next to it and any inquiries will be emailed to you. It can't get any easier than that. I show up on the tops of the search engines for "emeralds for sale" and "loose emeralds" so it can't help but get noticed.
